| ADDITION OF 1979 TOURNAMENT BATTING STATS ! |
| The Veterans site has been updated with some recently discovered Tournament Stats from 1979. The update contain stats from the 'Top Teams Tournament' held at Bobolink Park in Vancouver on July 15, 1979.
A big thank you to 'Stats Man" Doug Walls for unearthing these lost records. Individual Player Stats for this tourney will be updated shortly. |

| The Veterans Softball Club was awarded the 'Most Sportsmanlike Team' award at the CUSL Year-End Party held Saturday, September 7th.
A request has been made to the 'Stat Man' aka Doug Walls to find out how many of these awards we have won over the years. |

| The top batter on the Vets over the past four games is Nancy McCabe (5-for-5 and a base on balls for a 1.000 batting average and 1.000 on-base percentage). Nancy has improved her average by .188 points and climbed from 11th place in batting to the number seven spot over the past four weeks. |

| Dan & Leslie Gray hosted their 8th Annual Croquet Tournament on July 20th. Battling strong competition Vets' Manager Darcy Grendus won the event claiming the prestigious 'Gray Cup' and the $22 winners purse.
Anyone wishing to view the infamous 'Gray Cup', or have their photo taken with the champ, can do so at the 'Extra-Innings Club" on Wednesday, July 24th. (Autographs - $5.00) |

You can contact him at cell 312-2657. I'm going on vacation from July 13 to July 28 to Green Lake near 100 Mile House so let Darcy know if you're not coming to any games. Darcy will probably do some crazy things like HAVE A PRACTISE. These are things I just wasn't getting organized. |

| Looking to continue the Vets winning ways Ex-Manager Darcy Grendus handed the coaching reins back to Manager Al Jackson for Game 5. Drawing on his vast years of experience, Al lead the Vets to their second defeat of the season, losing to the Taxpayers 11-1. In addition to the loss, the Vets tied a record set 3 years ago for fewest runs scored, set May 31, 1999 against the Beachcombers. Damn fine job! |

| Looking to get the Vets back to their winning ways Manager Al Jackson handed the coaching reins to Ex-Manager Darcy Grendus for Game 4. Drawing on his vast years of experience, Darcy lead the Vets to their third victory of the season, defeating the Spanish Flyers 8-1. In addition to the win, the Vets tied a record set 12 years ago for fewest runs allowed, set July 25, 1990 against A.D.T. Damn fine job! |

| The Veterans Softball Club will be without Jen Eadie for the 2002 season. Jen reports: "In Australia for the year so I won't be playing this year unfortunately. I should be back next year, so don't worry, your best woman player will be back! Hope the team does better this year than last." |

Upon learning that he was invited to attend the Vet's 2002 Spring Traing camp, Doug Walls had these comments:
"Still no word about the Vets being in the A or B Division so I guess I'll plan on part-time retirement again with the occassional appearance if the weather is just right (sunny and warm on a field with a flat infield and playing against one of the bottom teams so I can fatten up my lifetime average!) |
